The Vestkapp restaurant is located on the cliff’s plateau, 497 meters above the notorious ocean Stadhavet. With its ocean front view, you can enjoy the sight of the vast seas below or feel the storms frequenting the Stadlandet peninsula.

Experience

Food

At Vestkapp Restaurant, the chefs take pride in making homemade meals from local produce. The menu changes every month and whilst offering traditional dishes from the area, the chefs add a modern twist with inspiring tastes.

Nature

Vestkapp offers the experience of a distinctive landscape at a unique location. The flat plateau on top of airy cliffs that dive deep into the stormy sea: Stadhavet. On a sunny day, you can enjoy a panoramic view in all directions. Towards the endless ocean, the Alps of Sunnmøre, Hornelen Mountain and the Ålfoten Glacier.

History

The sea route past Stad and Vestkapp is notorious for its strong currents and shifting winds. Many ships have ended their voyage in these waters that are often referred to as the most volatile weather fronts in Norway. In other words, Stad has a storm of history.

The Stadlandet peninsula is known for its unpredictable and rough climate with strong winds. We recommend that you always check the weather forecast before visiting us and adapt accordingly. The local newspaper Fjordenes Tidene has a live webcam broadcast that you can view to check the weather real time. The restaurant is closed when winds are in excess of 25 m/s (90 km/h).
